Frequently Asked Questions

Where and when are rehearsals?

Please arrive from 7.20pm to allow time for registration.

Rehearsals take place term time only on Tuesday evenings, 7.30–8.30pm.

The choir rehearses in the heart of Wallingford at the Wallingford Methodist Hall, St Leonard's Square, OX10 0AS, with plenty of free parking nearby.

Joining the choir

If you’d like to join us, either as a regular member or on a pay-as-you-go basis, please drop us an email at wallingfordfolkchoir@gmail.com so we can get everything ready for you for your first rehearsal.

Accessibility

We want everyone to feel comfortable and able to take part, and we recognise that accessibility can mean different things for different people.

Wallingford Methodist Hall has accessible toilets on the same level, and we’re happy to discuss any other adjustments that would help you feel comfortable and able to join in, just drop us an email us at wallingfordfolkchoir@gmail.com.

Cost & Membership

Choose how you’d like to pay:

Half-term block booking: £8 per session when you book the full half-term, securing your place for the whole block. The discounted rate applies to the entire half term, even if you’re unable to attend a session.

Pay as you go: £10 per session, giving you the flexibility to come along when you can.

What happens if I can’t make a rehearsal?

We understand that life happens and you won’t always be able to make it every Tuesday. Whether you pay for the full half-term in advance or use our £10 pay-as-you-go option, payments are non-refundable if you’re unable to attend a rehearsal you’ve booked or paid for.

What to expect at a session

Feeling a little nervous about coming along for the first time? That’s completely normal! We want Wallingford Folk Choir to be a relaxed, friendly and welcoming place where you can simply come along and enjoy singing.

Each Tuesday during term time, we’ll warm up our voices, learn and sing folk songs together, and explore different harmonies. Jackie teaches the songs by ear, so you can simply listen, join in and pick things up as we go.

There’s no pressure to sing on your own, no auditions and no expectation that you’ll get everything right straight away. You can sing as much or as little as you feel comfortable with, and there’s always plenty of encouragement along the way.

Most importantly, WFC is about having fun, meeting people and enjoying the uplifting feeling of singing together.
